As a basic rule, candles should always be supervised. And you should never place candles close to flammable materials. Nor should candles be placed in the vicinity of a radiator or a TV or be in a draught, as they may run.

Candles should never be moved when they are alight or there is liquid paraffin/stearin around the wick.

If a candle begins to soot, you should cut the wick to a suitable length.

Burn time - the time from when the candle is lit and burns continuously without the influence of a draught until all the paraffin/stearin has melted.

When using gold, copper, silver, varnish and mother-of-pearl candles, please note the following:

If you blow out the candle before it has burned down, pinch the wick with two damp fingers and remove the varnish which has collected at the top of the candle with a match. The wick will then not be smothered and the candle will also burn well the next time you light it.
